Hello
My thoughts on writing are constantly changing. When I first began this class if you asked me what I thought about writing I would tell you that I hate it and I'm terrible at it and I wish numbers could communicate for me on paper. Right now as I'm writing this my thoughts are probably still along the same lines, but I have found a new appreciation for it. While I still may not love to write or enjoy writing papers I've learned that writing has a much broader definition that what I previously knew. I always thought writing was just what I did in school to pass English class but this semester has taught me that writing is when I tweet, when I journal to myself, and even when I'm just texting my friends. Just because it's not being graded does not discredit the value of my writing or the fact that it IS indeed my writing. I've learned this semester new ways to enjoy writing in my own time outside of the classroom and have been challenged to realize that my writing is not good or bad it just is. Some people may enjoy it some may loathe it but we all have different defitinition of what makes for good writing in different contexts and mine is just fine.
I am Sarah Kirkpatrick and I am currently a student at NC State studying mechanical engineering. This page is a space for my section 088 English 101 class. I'm from Mt. Airy, NC and so far I've discovered that my favorite things in life involve people, sunshine, mountains, singing, and potatoes. This page is a space for me to post my thoughts on topics discussed in class as well as digitize the projects created in class and view how my writing continues to evolove over time. Thanks for reading!
